The Fire Kitchen
of Flores

A Manggarai gastronomic ceremony in the hills above Labuan Bajo — the gateway to Komodo. Reservation-only. One long table. Closed for your group.

Closed for
one group.

No à la carte, no walk-ins, no shared tables. When your clients book Dapur Tara, the fire, the table and the whole evening belong to them alone. It is a place you reserve — not a place you drop into.

Dapur Tara from above — the hills of Kampung Melo, island of Flores

Kampung Melo, island of Flores — 30 minutes above Labuan Bajo

Thirty minutes above the harbour, another Flores begins

Your clients come to Labuan Bajo for the dragons and the diving. The island itself — its
tribes, its fire kitchens, its mountain gardens — stays invisible from a boat. Dapur Tara
is where they meet it: a wood-fired kitchen in the hills of Kampung Melo, overlooking the sea
they sailed that morning.

More than a restaurant — a gastronomic experience

Dapur Tara was created by Kaka Liz — founder, cultural guardian, and the
soul of every fire at the table. She spent years travelling Flores, learning food, language and
healing traditions directly from its tribes. There is no à la carte and there are no
walk-ins: the fire is lit at dawn, the smoked chicken cooks for eight hours, and everything is
prepared for the guests who booked — and only for them.

When your clients sit down, the whole Manggarai feast — around eight dishes — is set on
the table at once, and each one is introduced by name: what it is, where it grows, why it matters
in Flores. It is the indigenous cuisine of the Manggarai highlands, cooked the way it was long
before restaurants existed — something no kitchen in Labuan Bajo can put on a plate.

The Private Fire Table

IDR 660,000 published · IDR 590,000 agent netper guest · min 6 · fixed through 31 Dec 2026 · 2027: 726,000 / 650,000 — or keep this rate by confirming before 31 Oct

The whole sanctuary closed for one party — lunch or dinner. The full fire-cooked Manggarai
feast and a Flores moke (arak) tasting for adults. A guided walk through the permaculture garden is available on request.
From an intimate table of six to a group of forty.

One published price, two ways to sell. Guests pay the same IDR 660,000 wherever they book, so your
client never finds it cheaper elsewhere. Sell it standalone at the published price, or build it into a package at your
own selling price — either way you pay us the agent net rate of IDR 590,000 (your ~10% commission is already deducted, with
nothing to claim back after the visit).

  • Add the fire kitchen — your group cooks the feast with the team before eating it: IDR 935,000 published · IDR 840,000 agent net per guest.
  • Series & allotments (15+ guests), and 2027 departures — terms by agreement; we build a rate around your volume.

Minimum billing 6. The whole place closes for your group, so a party of two is
welcome — billed as six (6 × IDR 590,000 = IDR 3,540,000 agent net).
Children under 10 at 50%; from 10 years, full price. Halal; vegetarian (tofu & tempe) menu on request.
Rates are for the experience only — transport is quoted separately.

The offer at a glance

One table, one price, no surprises — everything an agent needs to quote, sell and book Dapur Tara without asking us first.

Rate, per guest
IDR 660,000 published · IDR 590,000 agent net. Your ~10% commission is already deducted — nothing to claim back after the visit.
With the fire kitchen
Your group cooks the feast with the team: IDR 935,000 published · IDR 840,000 agent net.
Minimum billing
6 guests. The whole place closes for your group, so a party of two is welcome — billed as six (6 × IDR 590,000 = IDR 3,540,000 net).
Group size
From 6 to about 40 by arrangement. One group at a time — never seated with other guests.
Seatings & duration
Lunch 13:00, dinner 19:00 — about 2 hours on site. Allow ~30 minutes’ drive each way; transport is not included.
Included
The full fire-cooked Manggarai table, a moke (arak) tasting for adults, and — on request, at no extra cost — a 20–30 minute walk through the permaculture garden (arrival simply moves 20–30 minutes earlier).
Not included
Transport. Use your own and we confirm the arrival time, or we arrange any size — cars, minivans, coaches — quoted separately by pick-up point, party size and vehicle.
Your own visit
Want to try it before you sell it? Your team is welcome at 30% off the published price — IDR 462,000 per person (with the fire kitchen, IDR 654,500). One visit, for agency staff only, and the minimum billing of six does not apply — you pay for the people who actually come.
Guides & drivers
One guide dines free per 10 paying guests (two at 20, and so on) — the guide sits with the group at the full table. Drivers eat free too, as many as actually drove your group; they are looked after separately, with a simpler driver’s meal. Neither guides nor drivers count toward the minimum billing of six — that is paying guests only.
Ages & children
No age limit on the experience — families are welcome. Children under 10 at 50%; from 10 years, full price. The moke (arak) tasting is for guests 18 and over; children and non-drinkers get the herbal welcome drink and the full feast. On the cooking class, children are welcome with a parent alongside them — we cook over an open wood fire.
Diets
Halal. Vegetarian (tofu & tempe) menu on request — just tell us at booking.
Payment
First bookings are paid in full. Bank transfer, secure payment link, Visa & Mastercard, QRIS. Once we work together regularly, we move you onto 7-day invoice terms.
